It seems as if we all have an affinity for life “way back when.” The popularity of hashtags like #ThrowbackThurday and #FlashbackFriday are only the beginning. TV shows take us back to the 80s and 90s with reruns being just as popular as many programmes produced today. There are even cruises and parties dedicated to specific periods in the past. No matter what advancements come our way, nothing seems more meaningful than the simplicity and sentiments of the good old days.

Going Retro with National Baking Company

National Baking Company is always with the trends. We recently launched a campaign that is reminiscent of days gone by. The photos and commercials capture a time in Jamaica that most of us embrace fondly. However, we aren’t just about being trendy. Our nod to the past is a reflection of the passion Jamaicans at home and abroad have for our history.

Consider the proliferation of social media pages dedicated to celebrating our heritage. Many of these Facebook and Twitter accounts regularly feature elements of our culture throughout the years. Even a brief glance through comments and reactions and one quickly sees the joy these posts bring.

Moving Forward

We can’t dwell on the past. However, that occasional stroll down memory lane has many benefits. It helps by providing us with reminders of who we are and inspires us to appreciate our unique culture. “Sweet, sweet Jamaica,” indeed! More than anything, looking back should serve to motivate us to be more and do more.

National Baking Company has come a long way since our humble beginnings in 1952. We like to say that ours is a true Jamaican story.
