At National Baking Company we take our responsibility to the community seriously. Service is a part of our culture, and we are constantly looking for ways to contribute to our country’s growth and development. Our attitude toward giving is not born out of a sense of obligation. We simply love our country and look forward to helping in any way that we can.

Embracing Our Nation

Wherever there’s a need, National is proud to step up. As a result, you’ll find us involved in areas such as early childhood education, food banks, children’s homes and elderly care. Our programmes include:

  • Talk Up Yout which promotes youth empowerment and provides an outlet for young people to voice their concerns and make suggestions regarding life in Jamaica. Our company serves as a major sponsor of the organisation’s television program.

  • Bold Ones is an initiative that promotes economic growth by providing support to small businesses in Jamaica. These are manufacturing companies that produce goods that incorporate raw materials native to the island.

  • National Baking Foundation supports more than 30 not-for-profit organizations in Jamaica. Early childhood education has been a focus of the Foundation, which recently launched the Little Leaders programme. The goal of this most recent undertaking is to improve literacy and access to education for children from three to six years of age.

We are proud that giving has become a way of life for our loyal employees. They wholeheartedly embrace community service and regularly offer their time to participate in various activities.

A Lifelong Commitment to Giving

Giving has been a part of National’s legacy since its inception. Our Chairman and CEO, Gary “Butch” Hendrickson attributes this inborn desire to his grandmother who, at Christmas, would prepare little paper bags with items for those in need. His parents also served as philanthropic role models, so it’s only natural that Mr. Hendrickson feels this willing compulsion. In 2016, he received the Observer Business Leader Award for Corporate Philanthropy.

We Couldn’t Do It Without You

A Jamaican-Made Christmas, held each November, is another venture that helps small and medium-sized businesses. This Expo provides promotional opportunities for products made in Jamaica by Jamaicans. The quality and creativity displayed speak volumes about our potential. Maybe you can check out the next expo and discover more reasons to be proud to be Jamaican.

Jamaicans at home and abroad have always been strong supporters of our company and products. Your unwavering support helps us to continue giving. We owe a debt of gratitude to all our loyal customers. The more successful we are, the more we can do to help Jamaica. We look forward to another successful year of delivering freshness and enlightening hearts.
